Yoga Winter Session - So popular we're running two classes!

A message from the instructor...

My name is Tracey Howells-Stark. I am thrilled about your community’s interest in yoga.

I started practicing yoga in 2000, in the Iyengar style of yoga. Over the years, I tried other styles of yoga: Hatha, Kripalu and Anusara. It was my Kripalu Yoga teacher who inspired me to become a Yoga Teacher. Her enthusiasm for teaching yoga and the Kripalu style captivated me. In 2007, I became certified through the Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training program as a Kripalu Yoga Teacher. In 2008, I became certified to teach Yoga for Seniors (Chair yoga, and Seated yoga). In 2009, I became certified to teach Children's yoga (using a thematic approach) and Yoga for Youth (empowering youth through yoga and journaling).

Please see course description below.

For Level 1 and for Level 2, my intention is to deliver a class that improves movement, strength, flexibility and breath flow of the entire body- to exercise muscles as equally as possible. Each class will include past poses along with something new. Variety is the spice of life, but part of yoga is get to the heart of being, not thinking too much, hence the repetition. May what you learn on the mat be applied to your daily life.

Level 1 Yoga ( Beginner Plus) (Gentle-Moderate) Will focus on: Breath awareness Proper alignment/ posture within poses Flexibility, stretching and strengthening the body The above then allows for the balancing of the the body, mind and flow of the breath Allowing relaxation and renewal :-)
Level 1 Yoga will be instructed in a relaxing pace, allowing you to move slowly with the breath in the poses. A few flows will be integrated into the routine when the class is ready.

Level 2 Yoga ( Required: a strong base in the foundational poses/previous yoga experience) (More physical) Will focus on: Breath awareness Proper alignment/ posture within poses Flexibility, stretching and strengthening the body = Balance of body, mind and flow of breath Endurance and feeling a deeper release in relaxation :-)
Level 2 Yoga will be instructed at a pace that is more physically challenging- building on strength and endurance while continuing to connect deeper with the breath. This class will have more of a flow in the postures and a few inversions. Also, after the centering/pranayama, the warm-ups for the most part will be from the poses themselves. So we will be moving into the poses sooner hence the hour class verses the hour and a half class.

If interested in the above yoga classes or you have any questions please, contact me by e-mail at: tracey_howells@yahoo.com or come see me on pre-registration day. Thank you! Be your breath :-)
